Judy Barrington-Smuts

 

Judy began her training at the age of 16 with The Bristol Old Vic Youth Theatre alongside teachers Heather Williams (BOV),  Jane Lapotaire (RSC) and Gareth Machin (National Theatre). At University, she studied Theatre Arts, specialising in Physical Theatre, for which she received a First Class Honours Degree.

She has been involved in numerous projects with David Gale, Ragroof Theatre and AcroJou Circus Theatre and performed all over the place, from The Spiegal Tent to The National Theatre. In 2008, she was awarded funding by Arts Council England as an individual practitioner to produce her own piece, 'Reflections on a Gentleman'.


Judy has been working with Wet Picnic since 2008 where she was crowned Ursula Harrington Carrington Farrington Larrington Barrington Smarrington, Queen of The Dinner Table. Not only does she create and perform, but she is also the Assistant Director of the company where she is responsible for many artistic projects, the selling and marketing of Wet Picnic in the UK, teaching Workshops and Youth Theatres, Project Managing and, well, an awful lot!
