Working with Artistic Director, Matt Feerick and Performer, Charlotte Dubery, the focus of these two weekend workshops will be on training as an ensemble through movement theatre, improvisation and devising based on the teachings of Jacques Lecoq.
Beginning with the human body, the ensemble members will experience how their body moves in its natural form before pushing it to personal and physical extremes during the workshops as they explore a diversity of physical approaches to performance.
Performers will be investigating theatre in its barest and most essential form using mime to engage with different uses of space and scale allowing the company to take themselves and their audience wherever their imaginations inspire them.
The company will be encouraged to play and engage with the expressive potential of the human body through the exploration of mime, expressive movement, music, poetry, text and object manipulation.
The aim of the workshops is to create a site for each individual to build upon once being equipped with theatrical tools that they can explore and develop as they create their own style and theatrical language. Each weekend workshop will end with a devised performance created by the company.
These workshops are suitable for students (undergraduate, post graduate and mature) who wish to complement their studies, build their performance skills and confidence through exploring new sources of inspiration and developing new theatrical skills. It is also suitable for non - performing artists, such as writers, directors, designers who are looking for new ways in which to approach theatre and find new creative impulses. The only requirement is a passion for theatre and a energetic sense of fun and play.
