From attending Thame Youth Theatre at 14 and working in residency with both Bouge De La Theatre Company and Frantic Assembly, she decided that creating theatre as an ensemble and exploring physicality through performance was the career choice to go for. At 18 Penny was the Company Manager and Dramaturg of Where's That Tiger Theatre Company based in Oxford.

Pennny studied at the University of Winchester obtaining a BA degree in Drama Studies, where she focussed on dramaturgy and received a First for her dissertation on Dramaturgy within ensemble companies. Since the founding Wet Picnic, Penny has worked not only as our Dramaturg but has also worked extensively in education with many schools across Hampshire and the South; and with young adults with learning difficulties.  She is also Dramaturg and Assistant Director with STAX, the in-house Youth Theatre of Anvil Arts in Basingstoke, and, not to forget, a mean keen LWB Van driver machine.
